WE LISTEN. WE CARE. WE ARE HERE

Serving veterans, their families and the community

The Flemington-Kensington RSL is committed to current and former Veterans, their partners and children through our welfare programs.  Welfare assistance can include payments for essentials such as food, medicines and clothing, arranging financial assistance, provision of mobility, rehabilitation devices or emergency pendants or services and assistance that allow people to remain in their own homes, such as house cleaning or lawn mowing services. Our community now has a growing number of younger Veterans and families, and the Flemington-Kensington RSL is committed to consultation with our younger Veterans to determine the types of support and activities that will benefit them. Veteran & Service members are invited to specific events throughout the year to foster a culture of camaraderie, esprit de cour and general group welfare.

The annual ANZAC badge and Remembrance Day Poppy appeals are vital for raising funds for our Welfare funds and capability. Funds raised through the Patriotic funds are only used for the purpose of providing welfare support to past and present Veterans, their partners and families in accordance with The Act.

We are always looking for volunteers who can spend some time packing boxes, delivering to schools and businesses and shaking collection tins at railway stations and shopping centres. We also appreciate people taking trays and tins to their workplace for their colleagues to purchase.

If you can assist, please contact our Appeals coordinator, Gary Marsden at hello@flemkenrsl.org

The Sub-Branch is pleased to have Scott Balestra as Welfare Officer and he can be contacted by email at welfare@flemkenrsl.org and briefly outline the support requested.

The definition of Veteran under Victorian legislation is; "a veteran is someone who has served, or is serving in the Armed Forces of Australia, or the forces of another Commonwealth (i.e New Zealand, United Kingdom, India) or Allied (i.e United States of America, France) country. The individual does not need to have seen active/ warlike service overseas to meet the definition. Both full-time/regular and part-time/ reserve service falls within the criteria."
